Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

  • Manuscripts should be limited to 3000 words (excluding references and tables/figures).
  • We adhere to the American Psychological Association (APA) style for references and citations. Authors must ensure their manuscripts are formatted according to APA guidelines.
  • The follows publishing standards set by the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), and the World Association of Medical Editors (WAME).

Submission Guidelines:

All submissions to the Journal of Health Sciences and Informatics must adhere to the formatting and citation standards of the APA 7th edition style. Please review the following guidelines carefully before submitting your manuscript.

  1. Manuscript Types Accepted

We accept the following types of articles:

- Original Research Articles
- Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses
- Case Studies / Case Reports
- Technical Reports and Methodological Papers
- Short Communications
- Editorials and Commentaries (by invitation only)

  1. General Formatting

- Document format: Microsoft Word (.doc or .docx)
- Font: Times New Roman, 12-point
- Spacing: Double-spaced throughout, including references, tables, and figure captions
- Margins: 1 inch on all sides
- Page Numbers: Bottom right corner of each page
- Line Numbers: Optional, but encouraged for peer review

  1. Manuscript Structure

Your manuscript should include the following sections (as applicable):

  • Title Page
  • Title of the manuscript
    • Full names of all authors and their institutional affiliations
    • Corresponding author's email and full contact details
    • ORCID IDs (if available)
  • Abstract (150–250 words)
  • Provide a structured abstract with subheadings: Background, Objectives, Methods, Results, Conclusion
  • Keywords (3–6)
  • Listed below the abstract
  • Main Body
  • Introduction
    • Methods
    • Results
    • Discussion
    • Conclusion
  • Acknowledgements
  • Conflicts of Interest
  • Funding Statement

  1. In-Text Citations and References (APA Style)

In-text citation examples:
• One author: (Kumar, 2022)
• Two authors: (Singh & Zhao, 2021)
• Three or more authors: (Ahmed et al., 2023)

  1. Figures and Tables
  • Submit figures and tables as part of the manuscript file, placed after the references or within the text
    • Provide clear titles and legends for all tables and figures
    • All figures must be of high resolution (minimum 300 dpi)
  1. Ethical Approval
  • A statement of ethical approval from an Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee is required for studies involving human or animal subjects
    • Informed consent must be documented and stated in the manuscript
  1. Plagiarism and Originality
  • All submissions are checked using plagiarism detection software
    • Manuscripts must be original, unpublished, and not under consideration elsewhere

  • JHSI follows a double-blind peer review process
    • Authors and reviewers remain anonymous
    • Initial decision within 3-4 weeks of submission
  1. Article Processing Charges (APC)

Currently, there is no submission or publication fee for accepted articles.
